Mohammadzai Bibi Aisha is a survivor of violence against women and an advocate for women's rights. Born in 1991 in Afghanistan, she was married off at 14 to pay off an uncle's debt to the Taliban. She was promised to her husband, a member of the Taliban, at only 12 years old. Her husband and in-laws treated her inhumanely, using her like a servant and making her sleep with the animals outside. After dealing with years of mistreatment, she fled, eventually being caught and forced into prison. After being released from prison, her father brought her back to her husband, believing that they would treat her better after her attempted escape. Instead, her husband and father-in-law, along with other taliban members, brought her to a mountain clearing, held her down, and cut off her ears and nose. In an interview with CNN's Atia Abawi, she said, "I passed out... In the middle of the night it felt like there was cold water in my nose".  After being left there to die,
