In Australia, abortion is legal nationwide but there are no federal abortion laws. Decriminalization of  the procedure has occurred in all jurisdictions, and in all areas besides the Australian Capital Territory, there are safe access zones set 150 meters around abortion clinics.

Australian Capital Territory: 

• Legal and free, must be provided by a medical doctor

New South Wales: 

• Legal on request up to 22 weeks. Legal beyond 22 weeks with the approval of 2 doctors.

Northern Territory: 

• Legal on request up to 24 weeks. Legal beyond 24 weeks with the approval of 2 doctors.

Queensland: 

• Legal on request up to 22 weeks. Legal beyond 22 weeks with the approval of 2 doctors.

South Australia: 

• Legal on request up to 22 weeks and 6 days. Legal beyond 22 weeks and 6 days with the approval of 2 doctors.

Tasmania: 

• Legal on request up to 16 weeks. Legal beyond 16 weeks with the approval of 2 doctors.

Victoria: 

• Legal on request up to 24 weeks. Legal beyond 24 weeks with the approval of 2 doctors.

Western Australia: 

• Legal on request up to 23 weeks. Legal beyond 23weeks with the approval of 2 doctors.
