In Bermuda, abortion is legal for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, but with the requirement of approval from the Bermuda Hospitals Board's Therapeutic Abortion Committee. This committee generally only approves cases of sexual assault, danger to the pregnant person's health, or severe fetal abnormalities. Also, bureaucratic issues coupled with high surgical costs often causes women who were originally approved to miss the 12 week limit.
