Belize

In Belize, abortion is illegal in almost all cases with the punishment of life in prison. The procedure is only legal to protect the life of the mother, to protect the physical or mental health of the mother or any existing children of her family, or if there is substantial risk that the child will be severely handicapped. The law suggests that abortions may be performed on socioeconomic grounds, but it is unclear, and there is no explicit exception for rape or incest.
