In Armenia, abortion is legal on request up to the 12th week of pregnancy with a mandatory 3 day waiting period after the initial consultation. In the second trimester (12-22 weeks), abortion is limited, but legal in specific circumstances such as severe fetal abnormalities and danger to the pregnant person's health. In these cases, the written consent of the pregnant person as well as medical approval are required. Armenian legislation specifically prohibits sex-selective abortion.
